Car Distributor and Dealer -- Supply Chain Management Strategy

Introduction

Today, the business environment of car distributors and dealers is becoming more competitive. At the same time, customers are expecting more choices and quicker services from dealers. In order to overcome these challenges, one of major potential improvement areas is to understand of the current market and how to make the existing supply chain (including sales and marketing, procurement, logistics and IT applications) more effective and efficient.

Speaker Biography

  • Prof. Frank Chen, Ph. D. -- He received his BE in mechanical Engineering from Qinghua University in 1983, and then joined the Department of Economics and Management at Qinghua until late 1989. He also spent about a year in China Construction Bank during 1984-85. He obtained his Master degree in Economics from the University of Waterloo in 1991 and then went to the University of Toronto for his PhD in Operations Management.
  • Mr. Michael Lee -- He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Zung Fu Company Limited, the exclusive retailer of Mercedes-Benz in Hong Kong and Macau. Michael has gained vase experience in vehicle sales, marketing and after sales during his 20 years of engagement. He is currently the Chairman of the Motor Traders?Association of Hong Kong and has been re-elected as Chairman for 2003.
  • Prof. Janny Leung, Ph. D. -- She obtained an S.B. degree in Applied Mathematics from Radcliffe College, a B.A. in Mathematics from Oxford University and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before returning to Hong Kong, she was a faculty member at Yale University and the University of Arizona.
  • Prof. Houmin Yan, Ph. D. -- He is a professor at Systems Engineering and Engineering Department of CUHK. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D degree in Business from the University of Toronto
